The S&S CYCLE 106-5247 camshaft kit is designed to enhance the performance of Big Twin motorcycles manufactured between 1999 and 2006, excluding Dyna models. This kit features an innovative compression release system that facilitates easy engine startup by temporarily reducing crank compression during initial ignition. Once the engine reaches higher rpm levels, the compression release lobe is centrifugally retracted, allowing the engine to operate with full compression and optimal performance. This design ensures smooth starts without sacrificing power or efficiency.
Built to improve horsepower and torque, the kit delivers noticeable increases beginning at 3,000 rpm and maintains steady gains up to redline, which varies from 3,500 to 6,000 rpm depending on engine size. Specifically, it benefits engines ranging from 88 to 106 cubic inches with compression ratios between 9.7:1 and 10.5:1, as well as larger engines from 106 to 124 cubic inches with ratios from 9.0:1 to 10.0:1. The bolt-in installation includes camshafts, gearcover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, o-ring, thrust lock, and detailed instructions, simplifying the upgrade process for experienced technicians.
