The S&S Cycle 106-4947 Easy Start 551 Chain Drive Camshaft Kit is designed to simplify starting and improve performance on compatible 2007-2017 Twin Cam Touring models. Its automatic compression release initially reduces cranking compression during startup, helping the engine turn over more easily with the stock starter. As engine speed increases, the compression release lobe retracts centrifugally, allowing the engine to operate with full compression and without sacrificing performance.
This bolt-in camshaft kit is optimized for 88, 96, and 103 to 106 cubic-inch Touring engines equipped with slip-on mufflers and compression ratios from 9.0:1 through 9.0:9. It is engineered to deliver strong low-end and midrange torque, with the most noticeable performance gains from idle through 4,000 rpm. The kit can be used with stock pushrods, lifters, and springs unless otherwise noted, making it a practical choice for stock or mildly modified Touring applications.
The kit includes camshafts, a gear cover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, O-ring, thread locker, and installation instructions. Made in the USA, the S&S Cycle 106-4947 is not recommended for engines with compression ratios of 10.0:1 or higher or for models equipped with OEM compression releases.
