The S&S Cycle 106-5233 Easy Start 585 Chain-Drive Camshaft Kit is designed to make high-performance Harley-Davidson Twin Cam engines easier to start without sacrificing power. Its centrifugal compression release lobe reduces effective crank compression during startup, helping the engine turn over more easily. As engine speed increases, the compression release retracts automatically, allowing the camshaft to operate with full compression during normal riding and acceleration.
This bolt-in camshaft kit is engineered for 88 to 106 cubic-inch engines with compression ratios from 9.7:1 to 10.5:1, as well as 106 to 124 cubic-inch engines with compression ratios from 9.0:1 to 10.0:1. The S&S Cycle 585 camshaft profile delivers strong horsepower and torque increases beginning around 3,000 rpm and maintains consistent performance through redline. Recommended operating ranges are approximately 3,500 to 6,000 rpm for 88 to 103 cubic-inch engines and 2,200 to 5,000 rpm for larger applications.
The kit includes camshafts, a gear cover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, O-ring, thread-locking compound, and installation instructions for a complete installation solution. It is made in the USA and intended for compatible Harley-Davidson Twin Cam applications, including select 2007-2017 models and 2006 Dyna models. Before installation, the installer must verify coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance to confirm proper engine compatibility and assembly. This camshaft kit is not intended for models equipped with OEM compression releases.
