The S&S Cycle 500 Camshaft, part number 33-5082, is designed for Buell and Harley-Davidson XL applications requiring strong, usable performance across a broad operating range. Tested on the dyno, street, and track before release, this bolt-in camshaft is engineered to provide excellent torque with stock or ported cylinder heads. It is a practical choice for modified engines where responsive power and compatibility with existing valvetrain components are important.
Recommended for modified engines up to 89 cubic inches with compression ratios from 9.0:1 to 10.5:1, the S&S Cycle 33-5082 camshaft can also be used in 89- to 100-cubic-inch engines when compression is below 9.0:1. Its intended operating range of 2,000 to 6,000 rpm supports strong street performance while maintaining useful mid-range response for spirited riding and track applications.
Installation is compatible with stock valve springs and stock non-adjustable pushrods. Models equipped with stock flywheels require a 1991-1999-style pinion gear, which is sold separately. Before final assembly, the installer must verify coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, valve-to-piston clearance, and cam lobe-to-case clearance. These checks are essential for confirming proper
