The S&S Cycle 570G Gear Drive Camshaft Kit is designed for Twin Cam engines ranging from 88 to 103 CID with compression ratios between 9:1 and 10:1. Built for strong performance from 3,200 to 3,700 rpm, this kit improves valve timing accuracy by replacing the stock chain drive with a gear-driven system that eliminates timing chain lash and the looseness associated with a stock chain setup.
The gear drive reverses the rear camshaft’s direction of rotation, creating additional operating clearance between the cam lobes. This design allows for higher cam lifts while supporting precise valve train operation. Due to the inherent characteristics of gear drives, some additional valve train noise may be present during operation.
This S&S Cycle camshaft kit requires professional-level installation. Material must be removed from the inner surface of the stock gear cover, and a hydraulic press and other specialized tools are required. S&S Cycle recommends using an adjustable pushrod and pushrod cover kit with the installation. Cam bearings and the gear cover gasket must be replaced when installing new camshafts. The installer must also verify coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance before the engine is operated.
