The S&S Cycle Cam Chest Kit (Part 310-1265) is designed for high-performance M8 engines, featuring a precision-machined billet aluminum oil pump and cam plate for durability and efficient oil flow.
Passage plugs are removable for easy servicing, and independent scavenge sections for the flywheel cavity and cam chest ensure optimal oil circulation and debris removal. Debris screens in both scavenge pickups protect the pump and engine components from contaminants, while a magnet in the cam chest side helps prevent debris entry into the oil pump.
The oil supply side boasts a 44% flow increase, with a 58% flow boost on the scavenge side, promoting superior lubrication and engine longevity. An adjustable pressure relief valve allows fine-tuning of oil pressure when installed in the engine, enhancing reliability under various conditions.
Included are Quikee pushrods, Show Chrome pushrod tubes, S&S precision tappets, and tappet cuffs with a hard anodized black coating for added durability. The tappets are hand assembled to exacting tolerances, reducing valve train noise and ensuring consistent operation from startup to shutdown. Close tolerances provide low leak-down rates, resulting in fast pump-up times and high RPM performance.
The kit's components, including the cam plate, oil pump, tappets, tappet cuffs, pushrods, and cam chain tensioner, are all made in the USA, offering quality assurance and compatibility for water-cooled M8 engines. This comprehensive kit improves valve train stability at high lift and rpm, thanks to the billet aluminum construction which resists distortion and enhances performance in demanding riding conditions.
