Upgrade compatible Big Twin engines with the S&S Cycle Easy Start 585 Camshaft Kit, part number 106-5299. Designed for 1999-2006 Big Twin models, excluding 2006 Dyna applications, this bolt-in camshaft kit helps make starting easier by temporarily reducing crank compression during initial cranking. As engine speed increases, the centrifugal compression release lobe retracts, allowing the engine to operate with full compression and without sacrificing performance once running.
The S&S Cycle 106-5299 camshaft kit is designed for 88-106 cubic-inch engines with compression ratios from 9.7:1 to 10.5:1, as well as 106-124 cubic-inch engines with compression ratios from 9.0:1 to 10.0:1. It is engineered to deliver strong horsepower and torque gains beginning at approximately 3,000 rpm and continuing through the upper operating range. Recommended performance ranges are approximately 3,500-6,000 rpm for 88-103 cubic-inch engines and 2,200-5,000 rpm for larger engines.
This complete kit includes the S&S Cycle camshafts, gear cover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, O-ring, thread-locking compound, and installation instructions. The bolt-in design supports a straightforward installation when used with compatible applications, while the included components help provide a convenient solution for performance-focused engine builds. Made in the USA, the 106-5299 camshaft kit is intended for installers familiar with performance engine assembly and setup. Before installation, verify coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance. This kit is not compatible with models equipped with OEM compression releases.
