Engine Case - +4.000" Bore - Special Application - Evolution Big Twin

The S&S CYCLE Engine Case (Part #31-0047) is engineered for high-performance Evolution Big Twin engines with a 4.000-inch cylinder bore. Featuring a cam chest that is moved outward by 0.250 inches, this design accommodates larger crankcases and allows for increased stroke lengths up to 5.000 inches, providing enhanced power potential. The case is machined to accept the stock oil filter assembly used on '92-'99 Big Twins, ensuring compatibility with original equipment and simplifying installation. A ported breather passageway and a machined breather window facilitate efficient airflow from the flywheel cavity to the cam chest, minimizing restriction and optimizing engine breathing. Additionally, the relocated cam chest oil pick-up improves gear case scavenging and helps prevent oil carry-over at sustained high speeds, contributing to reliable engine performance. Crankcase venting options include two crankcase breathers, with S&S recommending the use of both in engines larger than 95 cubic inches for optimal ventilation. The case has a deck height of 5.875 inches and is manufactured in the USA, ensuring high-quality standards. It is machined to accommodate a crank position sensor, enabling compatibility with EFI applications and allowing straightforward installation of S&S IST Ignition and VFI Fuel Injection systems. For engines not utilizing a crank position sensor, a plug kit is included. Note that all S&S crankcases manufactured after June 1, 2008, do not feature case interlock grooves or rings and do not use case alignment studs; instead, the case mating surface is flat and aligned using dowels, simplifying assembly and ensuring precise fitment.
